President Trump has done absolutely nothing to reverse climate change, in fact he has made several decisions that will make it much worse. But this is just water under the bridge for Trump. Water that used to be ice.
The Huffington Post reported a recent study conducted by the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom that studied the makeup of Antartica showed that the continent is actually slowly starting to turn green.
Study co-author Dominic Hodgson told CNN,
“If you’d taken a photograph of these parts of the peninsula 50 years ago it would have been a monochrome shot of ice. Nothing but glaciers. Today that photo would show extensive patches of green.”
Matthew Amesbury, the study’s lead author, said in a news release,
“This gives us a much clearer idea of the scale over which these changes are occurring. Previously, we had only identified such a response in a single location at the far south of the Antarctic Peninsula, but now we know that moss banks are responding to recent climate change across the whole of the peninsula.”
Study co-author Dan Charman in a statement,
“The sensitivity of moss growth to past temperature rises suggests that ecosystems will alter rapidly under future warming, leading to major changes in the biology and landscape of this iconic region,”
This study has told us a lot of things. It has taught us about how fast the planet is actually warming, along with the affects of climate change. As all of this happens, Donald Trump will continue to think economically, rather than environmentally, as we know where his interests are.
